In light of International Women’s Day earlier this month, we would like to celebrate some of the incredible women of our BalletBody community. We’re shining a spotlight on a remarkable member who made her way back to training like a dancer after suffering a severe injury, and eventually undergoing surgery. The tenacity and determination with which she handled her recovery is truly inspiring.
Q: We’re so glad to have you back at BalletBody after recovering from your injury. Could you tell us a bit about that journey and what the experience has been like for you?
A: Thank you! I suffered from a severe slipped disc that impacted my lower back and the nerves in my left leg. I was unable to walk and endured constant pain until I underwent surgery. Recovery was a long and challenging journey.
Q: What keeps you motivated to show up for classes regularly now?
A: There are several reasons! Primarily, it’s seeing my body grow stronger and fitter, making progress with techniques that once challenged me, and my deep love for ballet. Additionally, it helps me manage and prevent further injury.
Q: If you could describe your BalletBody experience in three words, what would they be?
A: Challenging, Graceful, Rewarding.
