Our recent Swan Lake workshop was a mesmerising spectacle, featuring our beautiful White Swans from our BalletBody community gracefully taking centre stage.

Led by our lovely co-founder Alison, the workshop was inspired by the infamous White Swan of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake – a time-honoured masterpiece which explores themes of yearning, betrayal and love.
Swan Lake premiered in 1877 by the Bolshoi Ballet and has since evolved into one of Ballet’s most famous love stories, featuring some of the art form’s most iconic roles. The White Swan’s gentle yet commanding presence is portrayed through the expansive and virtuosic movements of her variation, while the soaring accompanying music embodies her resilience, quiet confidence and powerful feminine energy.
Thanks to this ballet’s prevalence in pop culture (think Natalie Portman in Black Swan or Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake in Billy Elliot), swans and ballet have become nearly synonymous in the cultural imagination. Even our BalletBody members can testify that every other day at the BalletBody studio consists of ‘swan arms’ (with arm weights)!
All that practice paid off as it’s safe to say our dancers successfully channeled their inner Swan Queens, and wowed their friends and families with their in-studio performance. Bravo ladies!
